Direct from Facebook

My husband posted an interesting question today which (inadvertantly) resulted in a heated debate with my Grandmother-in-law.  What are your thoughts??

Patrick Loome Ok Wednesday's web question:  Does a court have the right to force a kid into chemotherapy if he and/or his parents have other wishes??  Why do we make his folks look bad for their beliefs??

This, I disagree with 100% - HOWEVER, I DO agree with forcing a child to be immunized against infectious diseases if the parent has any intention to EVER take the child out of the home. I'm sorry, but you don't get to make a "decision for your family" when that "decision" affects unsuspecting families.

Wasn't that an episode of SVU?

We like good TV shows, what can we say.

That wasn't referencing a TV show. That was whole heartedly agreeing with an issue that was brought to the forefront. An issue that easily spins off your question.

are you NUTS or what??? Our nephew Frank let his girlfriend die begging for pain medicine because of his stupid beliefs. I don't think you should voice opinions until you know what you are talking about.

I'm not sure who you're calling nuts. And now, as I reread my earlier post - I think it's very confusing...

I have done enough listening to the news about this. All i am saying is that If a a 13 year old boy and his parents want to find another where to cure his tumor, having people in my life that I care and love for that have had to endure medical hell, I still belive that science is an option and should not be enforced by a judge. Chemo is a decision ... Read more

I don't believet that a 12 year old boy has the brains to make decisions about his health, especially when it is a life or death issue. If 12 year olds were allowed to make decisions like that , the world would surely be in trouble. The reason the mother is not letting him get chemo is because she did not like the fact that he got sick with it. There are TWO parents and she is the only one who is making decisions. The courts are in place to protect minors and that is exactly what they are doing. If the mother did not like how sick he got with chemo, if she continues what she is doing, she will know the pain of watching her child suffer a very painful and maybe needless death. I stillsay toknow the facts, before forming an opinion. I don't believe that anyone has the right to decide when someone lives or dies!!!!!

...but allowing the judge to decide that the child has to go through Chemo is just that - - deciding whether someone lives or dies.

That said - to the best of my research... both parents objected to the chemo. So to say that a family's decision "based on [roman catholic] religious reasons" to seek "alternative treatment" is "medical neglect" is what is nuts.

My final thoughts are this - - now that we have allowed the courts to make a decision over our wishes - specifically, our RELIGIOUS wishes - we have opened the door to the courts to begin overruling anything where "religious beliefs" are involved.

Sad.

The news you can use

Let me start by saying that I spent an AMAZING day at the zoo yesterday.  I could not have asked for better weather.  Crazy factor - ran into someone we knew as soon as we got there.  Nutso, on a Tuesday!

Idol Idol Idol Idol Idol...

I've got to give it to Adam.  I didn't get any ear piercing screaming last night.  Although, I still can't figure out why everyone adores him.  And how about the last song?  Was I the only one who had no idea what he was wearing??

Ooh, and before I forget...  WHAT THE HELL WAS RANDY WEARING?!?!?!  Plaid and polkadots?  Really??  I'm trying SO hard to find a picture...  No worries.  I'm sure you all saw.  Ridiculous - that's all I have to say about that.

I felt like Kris had the better performances all around.  In regards to his song #2.  I was VERY disappointed in the judges.  He didn't pick the song, so how can he be critisized for it being to slow for the evening.  What, he's supposed to rock it out and then be told "that's not what the song is about"...  He can't win for trying.

Final song - not too impressed.  It was clearly written for a woman to sing.  Also, not sure about some of the lyrics... hard to understand.  What happened to the songwriting contest?  I was listening for it all year to send something in.  I guess Cara trumps the budding lyricists...

My pick?  Kris.  I am an open Adam disliker.  I would not buy his album and I would change the radio station if he ever was aired.  Kris, on the otherhand - I'd buy his album.

Sorry folks.  No pics - No links - not finding anything good today.  Talk to you all after the show!

D-Pete *Update*

Well, kids.  He's plead not guilty.  No suprise there.  What is a suprise is that Mr. Brodsky was unable to request his bail reduction.  In a bizarre twist, the prosecutor has asked for a new judge.  Interesting...

Read the article here Not Guilty

Oh, and just for some light humor, I've got D-Pete's interview with our very own Mancow!  (I love his voice!)

Daily News - 05/15/2009

I feel as if I am being a bit excessive with the news updates.  What can I say?  I enjoy a good laugh!  More so, I enjoy passing the joys of a good laugh!  Think about it...  It's 9:00 AM and already I've got some goodies!

First up:
  • Baseball + Rain + Beer = Slip 'n Slide  That's right, kids... we have rain delay entertainment at Wrigley Field.  For the cost of a trip to jail, you can run... slide... hit the bump and take a dive!  Bonus...  Souvenier grass stains.  SWEET!
Next...:
  • Is your hair in need of a pick-me-up?  I know mine is.  I can't seem to do ANYTHING to increase the volume.  Wait a minute... I can now!  With new Blago Volumizing Shampoo!!  It's Bleep'n Golden!
And finally...:
  • Drew Peterson can't stand not being in the spotlight.  On the heals of the man-hunt for a missing Rockford man suspected in the shooting of three Bolingbrook residents, D-Pete decides, "Let's do an interview with Matt Lauer for the TODAY show."
     BRILLIANT!!!!!

And even better is this direct quote:
"...the Grand Jury system seriously needs to be revised. I truly believe that if they wanted to, they could indite a Jew for this incident."
I lied!  There's more, yet!!
  • Blago WILL be on I'm a Celebrity...  Well, NBC is trying, at least...

Can I just take a minute here to back track to that D-Pete quote.  Really, Drew?  Jews?  I realize you're a fan of negative attention... but now you're going to have the entire Jewish community coming after you.   And we've seen the wrath of Joan Rivers!
